Hiring a Nanny

The time set in the ad for a nanny has come. It appears that there is only one applicant.

Mary Poppins: Is this the place that needed a nanny?

Captain Nemo: Yes.

Mary Poppins: It sure looks like one is needed here. Children, are these two your... umm... parents? One of them does not look quite human.

Visa: They are not parents, Captain Nemo and Mr. Spock are our teachers.

Ilmari: Mr. Spock is a Vulcan, that's why he has those funny ears.

Satu: You are supposed to look after us when we are not in class. You have a pretty dress, but it does not look like one we expected a nanny to be wearing.

Mary Poppins: Your ad said that the nanny must be pretty. So put on my fancy dress for the interview.

Mary Poppins: I must first measure you to see how you qualify. Let's see. "Very inquisitive, want's to know everything." That's good.

Mary Poppins: "Determined but gentle and caring", very good.

Mary Poppins: "Wants to take everything apart so see how things work". Not so good...

Mary Poppins: And then Mr. Spock. Will you hold the other end of the measure for me, young man.

Spock: This is quite unnecessary. You are supposed to take care of the children, not Captain Nemo and me.

Mary Poppins: But weren't you the one that specified that the nanny must be able to make cabbage soup. Stand straight now, don't slouch or the measure will be wrong. Let's see now... "Logical, stubborn and very loyal". That seems to be all right. Now where did Captain Nemo go?

Visa: He disappeared when you started measuring people.

Ilmari: He has a complex, he did not want to be measured because he thinks it might turn out that he is shorter than you.

Mary Poppins: What nonsense! I'll have to measure him later.

Spock: As there are no other applicants, it seems logical to hire you - at least for a trial period. Will you accept the position?

Visa: Yes, we want you to stay!

Satu: Please, stay!

Mary Poppins: I see that I'm needed here. I will stay for a trial period...

Mary Poppins: ... or until the wind changes.
